Enid Blyton’s The Famous
Five are an iconic band of mystery-solvers, and two of their number, Anne and
George, have pluck in bundles. In the 1978 tv series, they mix the old-fashioned
simplicity of the original book series with seventies childhood wear that is eminently
practical for a romp through the British countryside.
George
George (Georgina, but don't call her that if you value your life) is a brave tomboy who’s
always up for adventure.
She dresses much like
the boys, in white collared shirts, shorts, and knitted tops.
The sweater-vest is a
classic look of George and the boys.
George’s other looks are
tough and tomboyish. She wears cool leather jackets (each of
the Five, bar their dog Timmy, has one of these), casual t-shirts and denim-on-denim.
True to her nature, George
lets her curls run wild. This hairstyle combined with her collared shirts
can give her a Peter Pan vibe.
George’s style is simple,
boyish and cool. It’s certainly something to emulate – but don’t let her know,
I’m sure she’d be quite annoyed to inspired something as frivolous as fashion!
Anne
Anne is the youngest and
most timid (human) member of the Famous Five. In contrast to George, her dress
is girlish and pretty. Nonetheless, she too keeps it simple and mostly sticks
to a ‘uniform’ of sorts.
Anne often pairs shirts
under cardigans with skirts or skorts. She tends to wear pale colours like
pastel blue, cream and lemon yellow.
Anne also likes shirts with funky patterns (especially stripes), often based in blueish hues. She usually lets the shirts do their talking, pairing them with plain blue jeans.
Anne wears her hair
straight and short and is never without a hair accessory, usually colour coordinated with her outfit. She has so many of these I may make a post dedicated to them in the future!
Anne and George both wear
white socks and brown leather sandals - classic girl detective wear.
Anne and
George, like Daphne and Velma, show how girl detectives can be of all makes and moulds – in this case, boyish and daring, or cautious and homely. But the
message is clear: anyone can be a
girl detective. Yes, even you!

Anne doesn't wear hair accessories on the books but in the 1978 series she wears that iconic blue headband, i just loved her hairstyle and i used to copy her and wore blue headbands as well :))
